I was interviewed by Michael Paulson of the New York Times in a conversation about how problematic gender stereotypes are in revivals of classic musicals. We should also talk about racism in this context, but this article is specifically about the way female characters are/were written and the compounding problem in such portrayals when there are so few (no) women on the creative teams.
