I’ve always liked Superheroes
But never wanted to be one.
Saving the world does not sound fun.
It’s too much work, there’s so much fighting…
All the wrongs that still needs right-ing.
Leave it to Batman and those stories on TV.
That’s not for me.

I’ve always liked playing soccer
And watching it with my brothers.
That’s my speed and way more cool.
But if I had one superpower,
I’d stop time and freeze the hour
In the kitchen while my Mama cooks a meal.
Hmmm Mmm
Mama’s food is how I know that
Superheroes are real.

SUPERHEROS ARE REAL!

Mama’s chicken is the way she says, “I got you.”  (SUPERHERO!)
Mama’s fish is like a wish that comes true. (WISH COME TRUE!)
Every bowl of rice and peas
Is a “thank you” and a “please.”
That’s how we’re getting through.

SUPERHEROS ARE REAL!

There was this time I made a rocket
From straws and scraps of paper,
Held it together just with clay.
I went to launch it and it flew!
I said, “Hey, look what I can do!”
Mama just nodded with a smile in her eye,
Then she said, “I always knew my baby could fly!”

Mama’s chicken is the way she says, “I got you.”  (SUPERHERO!)
Mama’s fish is like a wish that’s come true.
I can do a lot of things
But the happiness she brings:
That’s how we’re getting through.

SUPERHERO!

If I smell oxtail, it must be a big occasion. (OOHH)
Bring on her curry or her dumplings, and I’m free!
When Mama cooks,
The problems of the world disappear.
And that’s super

SUPERHEROES ARE REAL!

That’s super.

SUPERHEROS ARE REAL!

That’s super to me.

SUPERHEROS ARE REAL!

They’re real!
